OK people, it’s time to get your CUTE on!! What is cute? You tell us! We want to see your idea of cute in 2D, 3D, photography, sculpture, painting, drawing etc. I know some people who think bugs are cute. Babies can be cute. Anime, stuffed toys, pink, puppies, bunnies, sparkles, unicorns, fuzzy things etc. are all fair game. Cute cute cute. We want so much kitschy cutie pie-ness we might just make ourselves sick but this is where we are going for this show. Cute yourselves into a wild frenzy and apply! We want to be happy, weird and adorable.
No size limitation but NOTE if it’s a heavy or a difficult piece to install we will ask you to install it in the gallery. We have a loading dock and certain walls that can take heavier work and are able to help but can’t do the heavy lifting.
All 2D work must be ready to hang. No push pin pieces accepted. For 3D work we have a few pedestals but if you have one that fits your piece the way you want it to then please include that in your proposal.
No restriction on frame style. You can go as over the top as you like with that. **We do not pay for frames. We do not accept shipped work so please be prepared to bring your work here if accepted.
Sales are a 40/60 split with the gallery. Artists take 60%. Please price your work with that in mind.

Welcome Home
This deeply personal exhibition will take place in both of our galleries, Jane St Art Center and The Sketchbook Gallery. This is an exhibition where the artist visually answers questions around what home is to them; the images, memories, dreams and feelings. This show is about a place; a place where you feel comfortable, the oddities and beauties of where you come from and where you feel at home. We focus on the intimate and often overlooked elements of “home” encouraging both artists and viewers to explore their connections to place in a nuanced way.
Jane St. Art Center Sketch Club
Artists have been gaining inspiration from a live model for centuries. It is a time honored tradition where we learn by seeing and expressing what we see and feel. An artist’s vision and expression gets funneled through their life experience, culture, training, moment, time and place; content and context. As we focus on seeing, we create. We note the human form plus colors, lights and darks, line, gesture, composition etc. Each artist has a unique mark making language and interpretation of the model. You can have one model and 15 artist drawings and each artist will have entirely different interpretations of the same person and same pose. We all see differently. It’s a magical experience to be in a studio all together in this creative process. This show is a sample of what we do. We encourage you to think of these pieces as experiments, a process of discovery by each artist rather than a product.
Off the Charts
Jane St. Art Center is thrilled to announce our upcoming group exhibition, Off The Charts – Medical Art & The Internal Body. We invited artists from diverse backgrounds to explore and interpret medical themes through various artistic mediums: from anatomical drawings to medical imaging-inspired pieces, sculptures representing bodily systems to health-inspired paintings. The artists are intrigued by the human body and the fascinating world of medicine.
Chorus of Angels
Angels have played a major part in our human psyche for thousands of years beginning (as some scholars say) with the ancient Babylonians. Humans have looked to angels for guidance from early Jewish traditions in mystical texts like The Apocrypha, The Book of Enoch and then to Christian traditions like The Book of Revelations and later to contemporary spirituals. They have appeared in times of crisis and turmoil. Angels have been described as loyal guardians, messengers of God, with wings or subtle matter, and displayed the vengeance of God as in The Book of Revelations. Their presence has been debated, depicted, written about, classified, sexualized, wrestled with and feared. My mother, like many people, kept a small statue of a guardian angel in her car. Some people argued that angels may even have been Aliens and UFOs.
